Caring for a sick of injured child is a traumatic experience for any family. Having to travel long distances, away from your home and your community, often for an unforeseen amount of time, only exacerbates the trauma. Thanks to the support of the local community, Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia can provide families with a home away from home in their greatest time of need.

This year marks 20-years since the doors to Ronald McDonald House in Townsville first opened, thanks to the dedicated efforts of founder, George Colbran, and a team of passionate and hard-working supporters.

Today, the Chapter operates practical care programs across the North Australia region; from the tip of Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands, south to Mackay, west to Mount Isa, up through the Northern Territory, and everywhere else in-between. Last year, we proudly cared for 12,866 families across all of our programs, and grew our services with the addition of two new RMHC Hospitality Carts operating in both Darwin and Townsville. Thanks to the continued support of our Mission, this year in February, we celebrated a significant milestone with the launch of the a fourth RMHC Hospitality Cart to service the children and families at Mackay Base Hospital.

This month, we come together to celebrate 20-years of RMHC North Australia and the life-changing impact our programs continue to deliver to ensure that ill or injured children can live their healthiest lives.
