How does fundraising for RMHC North Australia work?
We want to make it as easy as possible for you, your friends, family or colleagues to raise funds for sick children and their families. The good news is that you have come to the right place! Simply decide on a fundraising idea (choose one of ours or come up with your own – practically anything goes!) and use this website to create your personalised page. Funds you raise via this site and your personal page will be donated directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia, supporting seriously ill children and their families across North Queensland and Northern Territory.
Why do I need to register to fundraise?
If we know you are raising funds on our behalf, we can better support you! And registering directly through this page ensures your funds come directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia, headquartered in Townsville. By registering, you are also legally authorised to fundraise under our license – a necessity for fundraising for any charity in Australia.
Are there any guidelines I need to follow?
Yes! In order to make sure your fundraiser is as successful as possible, we have a few guidelines for you to check out, including permits and liability, banking information, and the best way to tag us on socials. Check out our guidelines document here.
What support can I expect from Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia?
We are just a phone call or email away to help you get set up, but please note we can’t actually undertake tasks for you. We have designed logos especially for your use on any promotional flyers you create and a thank you certificate to send to your supporters when your activity has ended. Once you are registered, we can send you the links!
We are only a phone call or email away if you have a question or need help – na@rmhc.org.au or 07 4775 5600.
Where does my fundraising money go?
The funds you raise go directly to supporting the seriously ill children and their families that need the support of Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia. We have five practical care programs that help us care for our families when they need it most, including our hospital-adjacent Ronald McDonald House in Townsville, our in-hospital Ronald McDonald Family Room at Townsville University Hospital, our Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Palm Cove, our Ronald McDonald Learning Program that operates across North Queensland and the Northern Territory and our Hospitality Cart at Mount Isa Base Hospital. Find out more about our programs and how your fundraising dollars help here.
Aren’t you funded by McDonald’s? Why do you need me to fundraise?
We are proud that McDonald’s is our Founding Mission Partner. They funded the first Ronald McDonald House in the United States back in 1974, and continue to support the Charity today, alongside RMHC’s family of corporate partners and donors.
The truth is, we wouldn’t be here without them, and we are so grateful for their ongoing commitment to our seriously ill children, however, our Charity is simply too big to be funded by one organisation. We rely on the generosity of the community (and people like you!) to keep our practical care programs funded, and in turn, seriously ill children and their families supported on their healthcare journey.
